Olive wood comes from two types of olive trees ( European and African ). It has been well known for its wood durability and charming look.
Density of olive wood is not a fixed determined value, it’s subject to the growing conditions and type of soil. However generally olive wood density is around 990 KG/m3.
It’s easy to work with olive wood, however due to its interlocked grain structure, tear happens in the wood surface but can be glued and fixed to a great end result. It has a got a strong fruity smell that fades a lot after applying wood finish.
Due to its slow growth rate and economical benefits, olive wood is very hard to find. Also it requires very slow drying process to avoid twisting and cracking. However due to its unique grain, enthusiasts collect olive wood from tree branches pruning and make art pieces out of these branches.
